The business

Chine Brickwork & Development is a specialist brickwork contractor established in the 1990s. They employ around 20 permanent staff and manage around 200 self-employed contractors through Vyce.

They run Vyce Time and Vyce Pay.

“We've been working with Vyce for six years now and I don't think it is any coincidence that our business has doubled in that time. Their team onboarding and management system, their time tracking app and payroll system have streamlined our operations making it much easier for us to scale. I recommend Vyce for subcontractors at any stage of their business.”
Phil Watson, Managing Director

Vyce Time — £89,000 a year

Chine moved to biometric time tracking years ago and had already stopped the worst of the time leakage. What they hadn't escaped was the hardware — expensive, prone to breaking, and locked into a long supplier contract.

Vyce Time removed all of it. No hardware, no setup cost, no contract, and an interface simple enough that adoption wasn't a fight with the workforce.

Two sources of value: around £24,000 a year off the old contract, and roughly £65,000 in time recovered across 200 workers through more accurate tracking.

“Moving to Vyce Time from our incumbent supplier has not only saved us money but has also seen savings from more accurate time tracking and increased team compliance and satisfaction — for both the workforce and those managing the clocking in and out. We feel very lucky to have found and chosen Vyce.”
Phil Watson, Managing Director

Vyce Teams

Every card, qualification and right-to-work check sits against the person it belongs to, with expiry tracked automatically. When a main contractor asks who's on site and whether they're compliant, the answer takes seconds.

Vyce Pay — £12,000 a year

Chine moved contractor management onto Vyce six years ago, off paper onboarding that was slow, error-prone and expensive to run.

Onboarding time fell by 93%, and now completes before anyone sets foot on site. Around 65% of Chine's contractor workforce is non-British, so the forms translate into any language — which removes most of the errors that used to come back.

“Since we moved to Vyce, they have been a trusted partner for me and the business from a payroll perspective. The team are always available for a call to talk something through and help me with any request quickly and efficiently. I see them as part of our team and can't recommend them enough.”
Tracey Hill, Finance Manager
