The business
Swift Brickwork is a specialist brickwork contractor, established in 1992, turning over in excess of £60m. They employ around 70 permanent staff and engage around 500 self-employed contractors through Vyce.
Swift have worked with Vyce for seven years. They now run their workforce operations across Vyce Teams, Forms, Time and Pay.
“Vyce has streamlined and automated some of our people management processes saving us a great deal of time, admin and subsequently money. They've been an integral part of our digital transformation and I highly recommend Vyce for any business with a large workforce.”
Vyce Teams — £175,000 a year
Swift's clients expect proof of compliance, instantly, whenever they ask for it. Teams gives them that.
The automated expiry system tracks every card and qualification across 500+ people, flagging each one three months, two months and one month out, and again on the day. Nobody chases. Nothing lapses.
It does the work of a full-time compliance administrator. And when Swift need a specific skill or ticket on site, they find it inside their existing workforce in seconds, rather than paying an agency to go and look.
“It's now a hugely valuable central source of intelligence for us. Its automation capabilities save us a huge amount of time and ensure we maintain the high standards we set ourselves and our clients expect of us.”
Vyce Forms — £150,000 a year
Inductions, toolbox talks, incident reports and compliance declarations used to move on paper and email. Now they move on phones.
A site manager pushes a form to a person or a whole team. It comes back signed, timestamped and filed against that worker's profile. Around 5,000 forms a year, no paperwork on site, and no folder to go through when a client asks for evidence.
“From inductions to toolbox talks and incident reporting, everything is now digital and centrally recorded. It gives us total confidence that nothing slips through the net and that we can evidence compliance instantly to our clients.”
Vyce Time — £252,000 a year
Swift were already on biometric time tracking, so the principle wasn't in question. The hardware was. Expensive, regularly broken, and tied to a long supplier contract.
Vyce Time does the same job with no hardware, no setup cost and no contract. The bulk of the value isn't the kit, though — it's the fifteen minutes a week recovered per worker across 600 users.
“We already used a biometric time tracking system but the system that Vyce provides is superior from a cost, flexibility, ease of use and accuracy perspective. It gives me and my team instant access to data that helps keep our workforce safe, efficient and productive.”
Vyce Pay — £30,000 a year
Swift moved contractor management onto Vyce six years ago, off paper onboarding.
Onboarding time fell by 93%, and it now completes before anyone arrives on site. No wasted time at the gate, and nobody on site who hasn't passed ID and right-to-work checks. With around 65% of Swift's contractor workforce non-British, the forms translate into any language — which is where most of the old errors came from.
One monthly invoice replaced 600 weekly contractor invoices.
“Transitioning to Vyce, although initially scary, was in reality very straightforward. The most important thing is the contractors getting paid accurately and on time, which has been done consistently since working with Vyce.”
What it adds up to
| Module | Estimated annual value |
|---|---|
| Vyce Teams | £175,000 |
| Vyce Forms | £150,000 |
| Vyce Time | £252,000 |
| Vyce Pay | £30,000 |
| Total | £607,000 |
Over 1% of annual turnover. Several full-time roles' worth of admin. And a materially smaller compliance exposure.
Figures are estimates built from Swift's own operating data and agreed assumptions, including qualification tracking hours, agency placement costs avoided, time recovered through accurate tracking, and the replaced hardware contract. Your results will depend on your workforce size, your current systems and how you work today.
